Step back in time with Ooh La La Creations

Hello everyone and thank you to every one who entered our for the one I love challenge last time you can find the winners on The Ooh La La creations challenge blog. Whilst you are there check out the DT creations for the current Challenge chosen by Ciska who wanted us to step back in time.

The image and backing paper are actually from the Waterfall card section of the Passion for Fashion CD. I expanded the image and cropped a small square from the backing paper and tiled it using MCS to give a large enough piece for an 8x8 card. I matted the paper onto pale green card and then added strips of paper in colours from the image which had been edged using a Martha Stewart punch, and trimmed using self adhesive pearls. I also added a doily cut from thin pink card using a Marianne die. The image was mounted onto green pink and cream mats before being added to the card.

 I printed off the fan and the shoes from the embellishments folder on the  passion for fashion CD and then cut them out, I added tiny turquoise gems to the shoes and added a metal corner to the card both these items are available from the Ooh La La Creations shop.

The parasol was cut out of cream card using a Marianne die. The sentiment was from the same CD as the images and I matted this onto pink,cream and green card and added an organza flower. I finished off with a bow of turquoise seam binding a little clock charm and some decoupaged flowers.

 The inside of the card picked up on the turquoise in the topper and used a lovely folded satin design from the Passion for Fashion CD but this time I upped the green and blue in MCS to get a colour match.

Vintage/ Nostalgic at Ooh La La Creations

Well here we are again it's Monday and it's time for another challenge over at the Ooh La La Creations Challenge blog. Once again thank you to everyone who entered the last challenge there were some wonderful easel cards on show. The Top three are listed on the challenge blog. whilst your there take time to have a look at the vintage/nostalgic cards the design team have come up with they are wonderful.

I used the Yesterdays memories CD to create my card. I had been reading up on the history of greetings cards and discovered the work of Esther Howland (1828-1904) she created the most incredible valentines cards with paper lace and images so this card is inspired by her incredible work.

I started with the backing paper which is from the 'Floral Cross' folder on the CD and matted this onto a pale pink card. I added the silver peel off border and corners and then stuck the panel to the scalloped card blank.

I added the Anja Oval frame from Marianne, the backing is more of the pale pink card and the lace overlay is just cut from plain white paper. I printed off the traditional decoupage sheet for the cross and fussy cut the base image to stick on the centre of the oval. I curled the flowers using a ball tool into a soft embossing pad to add curvature and used silicone gel to build the image. The branches were die cut using the Marianne forest branch die and placed these to frame the oval.

The ribbon is vintage seam binding and it started out life white but with the addition of a tiny drop of worn lipstick distress ink and water I was able to crumple it into a tiny ball which I put to dry on top of a radiator it only took about 10 minutes and then I tied the double bow and added the pearl pins.

The flowers were some I had in my stash with the addition of the tiny rose buds from Wild Orchid. I did have some blue flowers I wanted to use but couldn't find them at the time (I found them yesterday in a box they had no business being in) so I improvised and fussy cut blue flowers from another floral cross which I printed on thin white card. I added the sentiment with the flat backed pearl, and the silver butterfly was one I had in my stash. The finishing touch was the flat backed pearls at the top of the oval.

Easel Cards at Ooh La La

Welcome to another of my DT blog posts for Ooh La La. Thanks once again for all your entries in our colour challenge of  'Green and Orange' last time I had great fun looking at the entries and coming up with the top 3 was a real challenge. Here's my card

I used an Anja Oval frame die from Marianne as a template to draw the base card then carefully cut this out with scissors and folded the front over to form the easel. I then used the die itself to cut a panel of backing paper from the 'White Rose' folder on the Yesterdays Memories CD, which I used to line the inside of the card. I added two flourishes cut using the flourish die in the set and stuck them to the base card. The tag was from the tags and sentiments folder and I placed this at an angle and added the organza double bow and the pearls. So the tag would act as the stopper for the card.

I then the backing oval from plain white card and stuck this onto a very pale pink card and trimmed round the edge to leave a narrow border. The lacy frame I cut from gold card and then ran it through the sizzix again with an embossing mat to add the flourish details. The image is the white rose traditional decoupage and I cut the bas sheet using the small aperture die in the set and stuck it inside the frame and then layered the other elements of the decoupage on top. I sounded these using an embossing tool onto a soft mat to give some shape and used silicone gel underneath as this is easier to mould than sticky pads.

I added the pearls using a pearl paint pen and added some stickles clear iridescent glue over the image to give a little sparkle. The finishing touch was the little organza bow. Once everything was dry I stuck it to the easel frame I had already created.

My dad has a wonderful neighbour who is a wonderful cook and often pops round to see him with little gifts of cakes, pastries and soup. Her birthday is the day before my dad's so when we visited dad for his birthday I popped along to see her and gave her this card, which she loved.

Four legged friends Ooh La La Creations DT card

Well hello another Monday and another challenge from Ooh La La Creations . Once again last week we had some fabulous entries in or Sparkle and Shine Challenge and you can see the winners over at the challenge blog here. We also had a call for Guest Designers and Dawn is busy reviewing all the entries.

This time our theme is four legged friends and I have chosen to use a delightful image from the Yesterday's Memories CD. This was a sell out when it was launched on Create and Craft recently but you can order your copy direct from http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx

I'm not usually into cats but I fell in love with this image the moment I saw it. I actually worked to a sketch from a magazine to create the card. The papers and image are all from the same CD and just added the doily the ribbon, buttons and sentiment. 

One of the things I really love about Wendi and Emma's designs at Ooh La La is all the little extra elements that come with each design set on the CD inside the card I used their beautiful post cards and stamp elements with the paler of the backing papers used on the card front to add interest once the card was opened.

On the left hand side of the card I just added three of the postcards and on the right hand side I added a panel to write a message and then used the postcard and one of the stamps to embellish this.

Love Story OLL Dt Inspiration

Hello everyone - well it's that time of year and love is in the air. I have to say we had some gorgeous entries into our last challenge and you can see the winners on the Ooh La La creations Challenge blog . Whilst you are there check out the DT inspiration for the latest Challenge of Love Story there are some real wow factor cards on show.

Here's my offering .....any Create and Craft viewers may think this looks familiar - that's because it was one of the samples I designed for the launch show of the Ooh La La Creations 'Yesterday's Memories' CD which aired on 27th January. The image and papers in the design are all from the CD and if you want to get a copy for yourself you can order it from Ooh La La Creations. 

I started by printing 2 copies of the image from the wedding vinatge set folder and die cut a heart of just the couple's faces from one image I then used sticky pads to stick this over their faces in the other image to give a little depth. The wedding Day greeting paper is also from the same folder and this was matted onto gold card and trimmed to leave a narrow border. I also trimmed a small piece just to show the words 'Wedding Day' and matted it onto gold card to make the sentiment at the top right which I glued across a die cut heart I used the Celtic Heart design from Cherry Lynn..

The with love sentiment was from the tags and sentiments folder and was again mounted on gold card and trimmed to leave a very fine border. The gold heart die cut was one of those happy accidents that all crafters experience from time to time. The gold card was actually a little too thick for the Cheery Lynne die and all the really intricate bits didn't cut properly so rather than spoil the die cut by forcing the intricate bits out I left them in place to give an embossed look and leave a solid heart with just the edge cut out.

The wedding rings were cut using a Marianne die. Because of the vintage look of the image I used Kraft as a base and I covered this with a paper that I found in the bonus paper folder, which again was mounted on gold card and trimmed to leave a narrow border. The ribbon was recycled - it was wrapped around the lovely hand made Christmas cake that a friend of my dad's makes for the family every year. I washed the bits of icing off and dried it out and it works perfectly with the colour scheme. I raided the button box to find the painted wooden button. I finished off by adding a few golden coloured gems from my stash. Whilst this is a wedding card it could easily be adapted for an anniversary  by changing the colours of the ribbons, gems and die cuts. and by replacing the greeting paper with a different patterned paper.

Inside the card I used backing papers from the wedding folder on the CD and edged them with gold peel offs. The die cuts are made with a Marianne die, and another of my happy accidents with Cheery Lynne die was used on the inside of the card. You can see the inner pages in close up below

OLL Design Team - Vintage

Firstly thank to everyone who entered last weeks challenge at Ooh La La Creations there were some gorgeous Thank You projects. Congratulations to the winners well deserved. This week we have a particular favourite of mine as a theme 'Vintage'. Here is the card I have created, remember to check out the rest of the design team's projects, and good luck to all those who enter the challenge.

I started off with the gorgeous 'Sepia Lady' image from the Ooh La La Creations 'Passion for Fashion' CD. This slightly naughty Victorian Beauty just cried out to be embellished. Having cut the image into an oval using a plain oval nesting die from x-cut I used a tartan paper also from the passion for fashion CD cut using a larger oval die as the mat behind the image.

I wanted to make an easel card but wanted it to be slightly different so I cut the fancy shaped card using a template from my stash. I covered the background with the sepia lady backing paper. The large green lace effect rose I fussy cut from the lace background bonus paper on the 'Femme Fatale' CD and the paper on the base of the easel is from the Beautiful Baby selection of papers on the 'Kidiwinks CD' Finally I used a sentiment from the 'Carnival of Colour' CD, it just goes to show how well all the Ooh La La Creations CD's work together as well as standing alone.

I just roughened the edges of the paper by rubbing against scissors and then inked them using a Momento ink pad in brown. The doily and paper flower embellishments were all from Wild Orchid Crafts and the doily was aged using an antique linen ink pad from the Ranger Tim Holtz distress range.

The feathers, pearls and die cut hearts were from my stash and the finishing touch was using a pearl paint applicator to add pearls to her head band and a tiny punched flower.
