<br />
My plans went awry on Thursday morning last week when my dad wasn't well and I couldn't get into town, so my lovely hubby agreed to drop me at the shop on a wet Saturday morning and drive round until I phoned him to say I was ready to leave when he would pick me up.<br />
<br />
Of course the reason I wanted to go was to get a photograph of me with the Sgt Pepper set that had been created upstairs but what was intended to be a quick pop in for a couple of photos turned into something so much more.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqCj2IryAddvWPjDgfUE69JCl5uTCS4yaHshWaN2v0iIKPDnAh_EmirAzm00znhUik9Suf-i_Pc49itTdGY6LOqmg2GMcg5kFx7p_LmhOZts8hFo714XpIirhhYGbX14kbishB_TiyMx4/s1600/IMG_6038.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="521" data-original-width="497" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqCj2IryAddvWPjDgfUE69JCl5uTCS4yaHshWaN2v0iIKPDnAh_EmirAzm00znhUik9Suf-i_Pc49itTdGY6LOqmg2GMcg5kFx7p_LmhOZts8hFo714XpIirhhYGbX14kbishB_TiyMx4/s320/IMG_6038.jpg" width="305" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
It was obvious that I would sidle into the set next to George whilst Paddy who runs the shop snapped this photograph.<br />
<br />
I also took the chance to snap some close ups of the lovely flower displays. Made from foam flowers by a friend's sister, I was bowled over by how realistic they are the flowers really do look just like real roses and even touching them the petals have a similar texture to those of the real thing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_h80HR334vQ6frOwq8gO1_X0QWKFnJGhv0XBCWuRDcwsVJNUqIs0ks93EEukoP5jVHCWtk-JJkGYgzpvhAiuhnQJ2E0WCAKrotDdjg2JJb93P8-kJ4Ct8qujY95tUPKzLQrPwSMBX-F4/s1600/IMG_6045.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="900" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_h80HR334vQ6frOwq8gO1_X0QWKFnJGhv0XBCWuRDcwsVJNUqIs0ks93EEukoP5jVHCWtk-JJkGYgzpvhAiuhnQJ2E0WCAKrotDdjg2JJb93P8-kJ4Ct8qujY95tUPKzLQrPwSMBX-F4/s400/IMG_6045.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Paddy then suggested that I have a picture taken holding the new version of 'I Me Mine' he has known me a long time and appreciates my inner George girl.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRElOqh0WeC0Ji2RUfiDrimVAXKVYPZVzDVBg9tgQhgqFaJzpyd3u9NAyFMiswpQoZX2PoY3kTkLWnju7nLeIaqRaCUKTh-UVjlaHJdaDvWEl70La74u59xkOmIbRX5BbeLjrCo0lyDcE/s1600/IMG_6048.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="735" height="326" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRElOqh0WeC0Ji2RUfiDrimVAXKVYPZVzDVBg9tgQhgqFaJzpyd3u9NAyFMiswpQoZX2PoY3kTkLWnju7nLeIaqRaCUKTh-UVjlaHJdaDvWEl70La74u59xkOmIbRX5BbeLjrCo0lyDcE/s400/IMG_6048.jpg" width="400" /></a>Whilst having the photos taken, we discussed the concert that had been performed at the Phil the night before. Including two of the original musicians from 'Within You Without You' performing on stage.<br />
<br />
Having decided what I wanted to purchase I made my way downstairs to the till only to be stopped in my tracks at the sight of the aforementioned musicians in the shop.<br />
<br />
Paddy suggested I accompany them back upstairs and one of the party with them recognised me from the concert the night before and very kindly arranged for me to have photographs with them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj16cvi1gXWUMoaQfRNMytHsyvO2TrR4X-0uFFOEHKGNDjJOxk5GZNFWNPBaJwZ1XFm9zZ6D8ag38faW98n3T8vcof2DoCsG1M8vfoYf3vVBdF7lnSfgTQWJ5nmsHz86EYXLq9-IcISNzY/s1600/IMG_6050.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="552" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj16cvi1gXWUMoaQfRNMytHsyvO2TrR4X-0uFFOEHKGNDjJOxk5GZNFWNPBaJwZ1XFm9zZ6D8ag38faW98n3T8vcof2DoCsG1M8vfoYf3vVBdF7lnSfgTQWJ5nmsHz86EYXLq9-IcISNzY/s400/IMG_6050.jpg" width="367" /></a> I started off by snapping this picture myself and then one of the group took over to allow me to be photographed with these two wonderfully gifted musicians. Both are very quietly spoken and such gentlemen. I felt totally humbled to be there talking to them and so very grateful I was able to thank them for both playing on Pepper and performing at the concert the night before.<br />
<br />
The concert the previous night had referred to how chance had played a huge part in both the concert being performed and in George discovering Indian music in the first place. So it seemed wholly appropriate that chance had played a part in my being in the pop up shop at the right time on Saturday.<br />

I was four years old and had instantly fallen in love with the picture of George Harrison inside the gate-fold sleeve of the album. To me at the time it was 'the song with funny sounding instruments' I knew nothing of Indian music let alone the names of the instruments used.<br />
<br />
Funnily enough even though Sgt Pepper started a love affair with The Beatles music in general and George's music in particular which still endures, it isn't my favourite Beatles Album, I prefer 'Revolver', so with the fiftieth anniversary of 'Pepper' looming I wasn't particularly excited by it, until I started seeing various events advertised to mark the Celebration. In the past couple of weeks I have been to several events some ticketed and some free and I am so glad I did, I have listened to the album with fresh ears, and appreciate even more why it was so groundbreaking back in 1967 and why it remains such a huge influence on many musicians today. I am not a musician, I can't carry a tune in a bucket, so I will apologise now to any of my musician friends reading this if I get any technical terms wrong, however what is not in doubt is the way the music makes me feel and I want to share that with anyone who cares to read this.<br />
<br />
Back in March 2017 I received a brochure from the Liverpool Philharmonic, advertising their up coming programme, one concert stood out - 'George Harrison's Journey to Indian Music' so after a quick chat with hubby I purchased tickets for us both to attend. At around the same time the events for the 'Pepper at 50' celebration in Liverpool were announced, thirteen events one to represent each of the tracks on the album, included was 'Ragafest' at St George's Hall a free event lasting all day at the Hall plus four ticketed Indian Music recitals happening throughout the day. The recitals included food being served typical to the area of India the music at the recital represented so I booked for the concert, which typified Northern India, which is where George spent time studying with Ravi Shankar.<br />
<br />
The concert at the Philharmonic was scheduled for Friday 9th June 2017 and was a joint enterprise between Liverpool University and the Phil, as it turned out it was a magical evening that left me incapable of uttering anything but 'Wow' and 'Fabulous' for a good hour afterwards.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgpu9tKDGcleb_e864VKFCBsrtkGqROqpncGmFz1O4zuppFpC82AiOuhQLrnsb4J8swLXearydFq5_lIC9c6BbFGZz8puULyLmPWJWUweENjWM4n9sURmWikCeN94u-9e_tnFg-1_Y1h8/s1600/IMG_6090.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="318" data-original-width="552" height="184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgpu9tKDGcleb_e864VKFCBsrtkGqROqpncGmFz1O4zuppFpC82AiOuhQLrnsb4J8swLXearydFq5_lIC9c6BbFGZz8puULyLmPWJWUweENjWM4n9sURmWikCeN94u-9e_tnFg-1_Y1h8/s320/IMG_6090.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
On arriving at the Philharmonic, as we walked up the stairs to the auditorium we glimpsed a beautiful image of George as a seventeen year old in Hamburg projected on a screen above the stage. From a distance it looked like a photograph but as we came closer we realised it was a beautiful drawing by David Rainey.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0tlcMQaJ_O99N0uSfM08iE_BNck0uKGPvtan6-IIA4i-D0HfVgv-H_kX2pFKZbjGSdpkCnGDQa4r7Yl8P4oBe_xgDqtd5fJmcOca9FSOlErDejE1ZN8EIbdQHnaGEWQEN6yDyhMS8jFc/s1600/IMG_1668.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="440" data-original-width="380" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0tlcMQaJ_O99N0uSfM08iE_BNck0uKGPvtan6-IIA4i-D0HfVgv-H_kX2pFKZbjGSdpkCnGDQa4r7Yl8P4oBe_xgDqtd5fJmcOca9FSOlErDejE1ZN8EIbdQHnaGEWQEN6yDyhMS8jFc/s320/IMG_1668.jpg" width="276" /></a></div>
<br />
There was a strict no photography rule in operation throughout the evening, so I have no photographs to share of the evening. We quickly settled in our seats and we were sat on the left side of the auditorium, because of the way the stage had been set for the concert this meant we had a prime view of the Indian musicians taking part. So we were able to see the amazing dexterity with which they played their various instruments.<br />
<br />
The concert opened with a band formed by Liverpool based songwriter and multi instrumentalist Thomas McConnell (aka Tom Low), specifically for the concert. Thomas was co lead arranger and performer for the Within You Without You concert, along with Jasdeep Singh Degun.<br />
<br />
As well as Thomas on lead guitar and vocals the band featured Adam Dixon on bass, James Madden on rhythm guitar and LIPA graduate Joe Warriner on drums. They got the night off to a rocking start with 'Help!', significant as it was whilst filming on the set of Help! that George came across Indian Instruments for the first time. Our narrator for the evening self professed life long Beatles fan and accomplished actor Gerrard Fletcher, explained that it was a journey that came about because of a series of chance encounters, at a time when George was looking for something more than the mania he found himself surrounded by. Followed by 'If I Needed Someone' and 'I Need You' the lights dimmed and the Indian musicians took to the stage. Lead by award - winning sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun, with Kirpal Singh Panesar, performing on dilruba, Gurdain Rayatt on tabla and percussionist Pirashanna Thevarajah,<br />
<br />
Our journey continued with a Raga, the beautifully haunting sounds of the dilruba, joined by the sitar and punctuated by tabla and dohl with tambura and swarmandel underlining the whole piece. After what had been a stressful week I felt the music wash over me and fill me with a sense of peacefulness and calm and could understand why George always said that the music spoke to him and entered his heart'<br />
<br />
We heard the story of David Crosby from the Byrds introducing George to the music of the great Ravi Shankar, and how George had purchased a sitar from Indiacraft and started to experiment with playing. It was that sitar that he would use on the opening bars of 'Norwegian Wood' and so we were treated to a beautiful arrangement of the song, played by both the Indian musicians and the western band.<br />
<br />
A broken string during the recording sessions for 'Norwegian Wood' lead to George meeting the Angadi family, the first Indian people George had met despite his love of the music. The first half of the concert finished with renditions of 'Taxman' and 'Love You To'.<br />
<br />
During the Interval, a small table appeared at the front of the stage and a set of tablas and a harmonium were placed on it.<br />
<br />
Part two started with a short film featuring members of the Angadi family explaining how George became a regular visitor to their home to listen to performances by members of the Asian Music Circle. Explaining how George first met Ravi Shankar in their home and, how George would practise sitar asking if had 'got it right' when playing memorised strings of musical notes. The film also introduced us to the family of Mr Amritt Gajjar and Mr Purushottam Dattatraya Joshi (known as Anna Joshi) both now sadly passed. We were told how George had invited them to play on his new composition 'Within You Without You' and how recording took so long because of issues tuning the Indian instruments in the studio. Mr Joshi's son also showed us the copy of Sgt Pepper that George had sent his father and explained it was two years before they played the record because they did not own a record player until 1969.<br />
<br />
As well as insightful interviews with the families they had been generous enough to share photographs of George in the recording studio during the Sgt Pepper Sessions and also during his visits to the home of Mr and Mrs Angadi. Mr Buddhadev Kansara and Mr Natvar Soni were also interviewed in the film, and they spoke about how they had been musicians on the original recording of 'Within You Without You'<br />
<br />
The film finished to a huge round of applause and then Gerrard Fletcher introduced Mr Kansara and Mr Soni to the audience, They held us spellbound as they performed traditional Indian folk music on tabla and harmonium with Mr Soni adding beautiful vocals. It was a truly magical moment to be able to witness this performance by two men whose playing I had been so influenced by at the age of four even though until now they had never been named individually as being the players on the Pepper Album only ever being credited as 'musicians of The Asian Music Circle'.<br />
<br />
There followed a short ceremony where they were decorated with flower garlands in acknowledgement of their musical careers to much applause from the audience.<br />
<br />
The concert moved on to explore the influences of different sounds that the Beatles were creating in 1966 and 1967 with performances of both 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and 'Tomorrow Never Knows'. Then the Indian musicians took over and we were treated to what can only be described as a duel between percussion and tabla fingers becoming a blur as the beat became faster, building in excitement until the final notes.<br />
<br />
Of course the main focus of the concert was always going to be 'Within You Without You' and as all the musicians assembled on stage they were joined by the string section of The Northern College of Music. As anticipated a pure version of 'Within You Without You' followed with the melody played by the Indian musicians and a perfect vocal performance by Thomas McConnell. I felt so calm just allowing the music to wash over me but the best was yet to come. The vocal version that every Beatles fan would recognise segued perfectly into an instrumental version. The Indian musicians joined by Thomas on acoustic guitar, then by the string section, A quick change of guitar by Thomas to an electric guitar, and the music continued to soar around the Philharmonic Hall, washing over us all like waves at first lapping then crashing on the shore of some distant beach. A final change of guitar to a 12 string and the rest of the rock band joined in to bring the whole to resounding crescendo that left me breathless. As the last notes died away I looked at my husband and just said 'Wow' words to describe it were completely inadequate and that was the best I could muster in the moment. Then the audience were on their feet giving the musicians a standing ovation so well and truly deserved.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I had fully intended posting about the concert on my facebook page but I couldn't write anything that came close to describing the way I felt. It was a perfect celebration of George's song and the beautiful programme that was produced for the concert will sit alongside my programme from 'The Concert for George'<br />
for many years to come.<br />

It has been a while since I blogged anything during the second half of 2016 I felt that my crafting mojo was slipping away and needed some new challenges. When I attended a Harry Potter event in August I made my own wand to take along and seeing some of the crafts there inspired me to take on making a full cosplay outfit for the next event it is still a work in progress but once finished it will be on display here. As a result of my husband telling our eldest grandson that I had made my own wand our little Slytherin decided that he would like one too. I decided that it would make a very special Christmas present to go with his Slytherin scarf from the Warner Brothers shop so I set about making one from him.<br />
<br />
Having learnt by trial and error whilst making my own wand from a holly twig and paper clay I decided I needed something that was more robust and easier to model with. I chose to use Milliput a two part epoxy modelling medium.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4s_8PLOD_idYO0F4vsZSRdWN7lxyc_-M1Iqx8H0MRxhem6Lx_vo0T_KNqKGUwktpc2JNdZRzUSoZcppdyzl2kNHni0EnGqLXyT7WB554Vyx9AS1uhWTJwikrM8ozs1gIAGHLGzKqcEC4/s1600/IMG_5608-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="294" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4s_8PLOD_idYO0F4vsZSRdWN7lxyc_-M1Iqx8H0MRxhem6Lx_vo0T_KNqKGUwktpc2JNdZRzUSoZcppdyzl2kNHni0EnGqLXyT7WB554Vyx9AS1uhWTJwikrM8ozs1gIAGHLGzKqcEC4/s640/IMG_5608-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I wanted to make it a bit special so I also bought a Papier Mache pencil box and a gauze bag everything else I had in the house from other projects, or in the case of the holly wood base for the wand in my garden.<br />
<br />
I used a pencil sharpener to shape one end of the holly twig and let it dry out for a week before doing anything to it.<br />
<br />
Once it was dry I used the Milli put mixed in accordance with the instructions and modelled the handle direct onto the twig. I used water to get a really smooth finish and took the milliput all the way down the twig and over the tip so it wasn't sharp.<br />
<br />
Once it had dried I left it a couple of days sanded it painted it in various shades of brown acrylic and varnished it adding a green stone to the end.<br />
<br />
The box I covered in some decopatch paper from my stash and lined it with a piece of satin from a fabric sample book.<br />

<br />
Once all the glue was dry I added the metal corners and varnished it with deco art water based varnish.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSv0wa2D0AxVXOlMBRer1FroCl6x2Xle6F46V39FYLcYqwtko471Mgu6jAhi_eYDsPArf7F56_7ZVUV1WczM-at6fLReFaBBknFMS2EgYfnNlgJfgDUlbH7ZB417X-6iLsc84mXQ2GIDc/s1600/IMG_5606-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSv0wa2D0AxVXOlMBRer1FroCl6x2Xle6F46V39FYLcYqwtko471Mgu6jAhi_eYDsPArf7F56_7ZVUV1WczM-at6fLReFaBBknFMS2EgYfnNlgJfgDUlbH7ZB417X-6iLsc84mXQ2GIDc/s400/IMG_5606-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I used the computer to make the label and aged it using distress ink nd gilding wax before adding it to the lid and covering it in another coat of varnish.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxTnca3ZWL8Qp227hjQfMW3lmEV2bszrjahz9Ujf2QVJe45JoYdOzRZUtHTpOTT9HrRP0lE8MZWKH7cC4datYFQ5lT8t5Uww88Wu145pTuAdQnmsBGIr-sPcEesI85OTUCShdiu2fBijA/s1600/IMG_5610-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="345" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxTnca3ZWL8Qp227hjQfMW3lmEV2bszrjahz9Ujf2QVJe45JoYdOzRZUtHTpOTT9HrRP0lE8MZWKH7cC4datYFQ5lT8t5Uww88Wu145pTuAdQnmsBGIr-sPcEesI85OTUCShdiu2fBijA/s400/IMG_5610-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I printed the scroll giving the wand details and added my grandson's name explaining that the wand had chosen him on 25th December 2016. I also found a poster on Pinterest with all the wand movements and printed this off to fold in the box with the wand and scroll.<br />
<br />

<br />
Finally I popped it in the bag and added the Wand chooses the Wizard tag.<br />

<br />
It is my turn to choose a challenge this time and I decided to go with...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Ribbons and Bows.</b></span></div>
<br />
I used the 'Yesterday's Memories CD you can purchase your copy in the online shop by clicking on the image below.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank">.<img height="200" src="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/siteimages/cover%20sepia2.jpg" width="197" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the card I made using the Wedding day folder of images and papers which I have adapted for a Wedding Anniversary.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj0JIluKnR1dFtY5JwBiB62QCVHN4VK46EIy9jBOMsz05OxHRAkxUUQUqDOR4jwI3moUt_yAJnLjdhIY5lwARgFCR_DTGqp1lkFVc9GODr3mVSfM4kQ1vhUvNI0EAUIoZrGDrRg2KlHig/s1600/IMG_4968.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj0JIluKnR1dFtY5JwBiB62QCVHN4VK46EIy9jBOMsz05OxHRAkxUUQUqDOR4jwI3moUt_yAJnLjdhIY5lwARgFCR_DTGqp1lkFVc9GODr3mVSfM4kQ1vhUvNI0EAUIoZrGDrRg2KlHig/s640/IMG_4968.jpg" width="474" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had some lovely deep pink ribbon with a sparkle in it and used this to wrap round a panel of the paler backing paper from the folder. I then mounted this onto gold card and added it to the top of the darker backing paper which had also been mounted on gold card and a piece off lace wrapped round it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was left with a tiny scrap of the sparkle ribbon and cut a v shaped tail to tuck under the topper with the seniment so that it was not wasted (I hate wasting crafting bits and bobs) added a deep burgundy organza bow and a few pearls to finish.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Be sure to pop over to the Ooh La La Challenge blog to see what the DT have come up with for this challenge. </div>

<br />
Thank you for all your things beginning with F for the last challenge there were some lovely entries. Pop over to <a href="http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Ooh La La Creations challenge blog</a> to see if you made the top three.<br />
<br />
This time our theme is .....<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Add Some Texture</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used papers from 'Yesterday's Memories' for my creation and if you click on the image below it will take you to the Ooh La La Creations shop</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank"><img height="200" src="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/siteimages/cover%20sepia2.jpg" width="197" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWCM6WPxSIi4Q3p-UMEFzGoyfFwXFMywYzF52wTe3ecCNsVry8FM2kGkrn5FAqBTz9qG4-KqY36mp9uz-5cbRAlyluGgI6eiCbXhF_q31pVndyqodqPnebEzYr_OcrEsnpUSFDrks1vyw/s1600/IMG_4959.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="633" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWCM6WPxSIi4Q3p-UMEFzGoyfFwXFMywYzF52wTe3ecCNsVry8FM2kGkrn5FAqBTz9qG4-KqY36mp9uz-5cbRAlyluGgI6eiCbXhF_q31pVndyqodqPnebEzYr_OcrEsnpUSFDrks1vyw/s640/IMG_4959.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I knew I wanted to use several different textures on the card, and as I was thinking what to do I also happened to take a delivery of flowers by post from a company called Bloom and Wild. On opening the box of flowers I first discovered the lovely textured golden ribbon, then I noticed that each of the delicate rose buds had been wrapped in net to stop them getting damaged, having finally lifted all the flowers out of the box I noticed that the lovely quote about flowers was printed on the inside of the box. At that point an idea started to form and so I took a picture of the flowers now arranged in a vase, on seeing the photograph on my computer screen I knew exactly the papers from The Yesterday's Memories CD which would work with the photograph.<br />
<br />
I printed the picture of the flowers and I used My Craft Studio to overlay the quotation on one of the Ooh La La papers - this is a really subtle printed paper from the Wedding Day folder. I also printed the basket weave paper from the Roses folder.<br />
<br />
I matted and layered the panels of paper, photograph and quotation onto dark green paper and then a lovely matt gold card from my stash.<br />
<br />
I added the gold textured ribbon around the centre panel and added a pink pom-pom trim to the top and bottom of the panel.<br />
<br />
I cut the musical stave from the dark green backing card and added this before adding the quotation and the photograph.<br />
<br />
I made a spray of rosebuds from some paper flowers in my stash and added little pieces cut from the protective netting. I added more texture with the metal leaf and butterfly embellishments and finished off with some flat backed pearls.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho-mWBlk_h4yihEGv6jhrphg6il2LsQoRuxyVX1Y1IKZyqoooDl7dMgW8VwE9jqRLDWDoCuUCPoPbQpIjJjoUMaLsqOzT-ArnuHHjJitp4d5LFix3yJS18lVqzpF3Q7q3VT0B60YXGN20/s1600/IMG_4960.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho-mWBlk_h4yihEGv6jhrphg6il2LsQoRuxyVX1Y1IKZyqoooDl7dMgW8VwE9jqRLDWDoCuUCPoPbQpIjJjoUMaLsqOzT-ArnuHHjJitp4d5LFix3yJS18lVqzpF3Q7q3VT0B60YXGN20/s320/IMG_4960.jpg" width="220" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was the first delivery from Bloom and Wild and I have a subscription for a delivery every month. I am looking forward to all the bits I can recycle as much as I am to the flowers. </div>
<br /></div>

<br />
Last time Out we asked for Sun Sea and Sand and we certainly got it. looking through all the lovely entries certainly made the days seem brighter during the foul start we are having to the summer here in England.<br />
<br />
To see if your card was chosen as one of the top three check out the <a href="http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Ooh La La Creations Blog </a>.<br />
<br />
This time our challenge is...<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">'Something Beginning with F'.</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have to admit at first this one got me wondering then I hit on the idea of designing a father's Day Card with a fancy fold that featured flight as the subject.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used the 'Boys to Men' CD for the image and the papers which I printed directly onto the card.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can check out the range of Ooh La La Cd's available by going over to the <a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank">shop</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_Uky5bLXCMnzB4U3yFSiUJJV0Jdzmq0m3rTwWBUeb8Pa4X508eY17AWTKnYUtdaVgJwrMioQGusXmQ-YC62NVNtgc7K01IEVvwwra6kmF2EHYNAzt4UUiLzCt1jONYQvMCCnLhYyHLDQ/s1600/IMG_0281edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="377" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_Uky5bLXCMnzB4U3yFSiUJJV0Jdzmq0m3rTwWBUeb8Pa4X508eY17AWTKnYUtdaVgJwrMioQGusXmQ-YC62NVNtgc7K01IEVvwwra6kmF2EHYNAzt4UUiLzCt1jONYQvMCCnLhYyHLDQ/s400/IMG_0281edit.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used an image from the traditional decoupage section for the back piece of the pop up box and then cropped the large balloon and played around with the size and colours in My Craft Studio for the individual balloons. I cut the individual balloons out and mounted them on acetate strips cut from a plastic container that had once contained soft fruit (washed and dried of course).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I mounted these on the strips inside so that the balloons looked as if they were flying, and added a sentiment and a message on the back of the card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am happy to report that Dad really loved it, and that he had a very Happy Fathers' Day in his new home, and going to one of our favourite restaurants for lunch. I also took him some home baked goodies all his favourites from Mum's old recipe book as a gift.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Of course theer are lots of other things beginning with F and several of these feature in the other DT projects for this challenge so pop over to their blogs and leave them some love.</div>

<br />
I simply took images and papers from 'The Beach Dog' folder on the CD and matted them onto black card, before arranging them on the card. I finished off with the two die cut 'sea weed' flourishes and some shells from my local beach.<br />

Hello everyone and thank you for all the entries in our Words Words Words challenge. To check if you are one of our top three pop over to the <a href="http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank"> Ooh La La Creations Challenge blog</a> and take a look.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This fortnight I get to choose the theme and I have gone with this photograph for inspiration. I snapped it last summer at a garden centre near my dad's house.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So thinking caps on and lets see what you can come up with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used papers from the Say it with Words CD to make this red white and blue card inspired by the colours in the petunias. You can purchase a copy by clicking on the link and going to the Ooh La La Creations craft shop.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wanted to do something a bit different so I took the car theme and made this card for a friend who has recently passed her driving test.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used silver mirri card to mat and layer the patterned papers and added a die cut car to the design and some flowers and ribbon from my stash. The L plates I obtained by searching for full sized ones for sale on teh web and using an image from one of the searches I found to make my mini versions.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Inside I used the same papers and an image from the Paula Oakley collection CD.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I repeated the same image on the back of the card.</div>

Firstly, Thank you to everyone who supported me in the 10,000 steps challenge. As a result I feel a whole lot fitter (or would do if I didn't have a stinking cold right now) and Cancer Research received a good donation from the sponsor ship.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the next fortnight our challenge is 'Words Words Words'. You can enter any sort of project it doesn't have to be a card. I used the Shawn Jenkins collection CD (still one of my favourites from Ooh La La) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can purchase a copy from the website by clicking on the image above </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Whilst you are there check out the free downloads. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have made a lot of cards recently (we have a massive number of birthdays in March in our family) so I wanted to make something a bit different for a change. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGLt7LzHo-O6aNDjrQMM1d2dAkPTRGHpdTpDybcbMam6CBX16B31TJ9dIATwo7j3vgft7iiOwoJbT5MXagjeQln0l6H6VD_EW8lbsgdKa2C8RvLrpQHCCM5aftXmi6RY0tpdh5N9QOrOs/s1600/IMG_4504edit+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGLt7LzHo-O6aNDjrQMM1d2dAkPTRGHpdTpDybcbMam6CBX16B31TJ9dIATwo7j3vgft7iiOwoJbT5MXagjeQln0l6H6VD_EW8lbsgdKa2C8RvLrpQHCCM5aftXmi6RY0tpdh5N9QOrOs/s640/IMG_4504edit+2.jpg" width="504" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love this particular backing paper from the Shawn Jenkins CD and decided that I would use it as a background to one of my favourite quotations from Sai Baba.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used an old plastic picture frame that I initially tried to gild but it didn't come out very well. Not wanting to throw it away I painted it with a coat of white gesso then sanded it back. The gilding that came through the paint looked like old wood. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To add to the shabby chic look I printed off some of the borders from the CD and stuck these onto the frame. I had some metal corners which I also painted and stuck these to the corner of the frame with a hot glue gun I then gently sanded them back so some of the brass metal showed through.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMryb02dDZ90GQ4mpDdK2Z1uiiHaeR_OLNr3fb4Pje5qCrlCvRS6yzWbD-gWGn5kc7cBMn0J16ONykMlauD1GuxicPVF5RUITbg5-_n4ByTBZScpFDV1Y71Cej2nbkht4KrJk_hI3zMWk/s1600/Page+1edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMryb02dDZ90GQ4mpDdK2Z1uiiHaeR_OLNr3fb4Pje5qCrlCvRS6yzWbD-gWGn5kc7cBMn0J16ONykMlauD1GuxicPVF5RUITbg5-_n4ByTBZScpFDV1Y71Cej2nbkht4KrJk_hI3zMWk/s320/Page+1edit.jpg" width="320" /></a>The large flowers were printed off from the CD and I cut them out and shaped them and used card candi as the centres before coating in a clear varnish so that they held their shape.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
I then added other flowers from my stash that matched the pretty colours of the background paper.<br />
<br />
<br />
Once assembled I left the glue to dry and then spritzed the whole frame with a solution containing pale gold mica powder to give a shimmering effect to it. Then left it to dry over night.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2nVnCpR8q40vcJ4WWHlLBzUnE1Ptx88UHcobjMF9zp3bLWu_O0fFCUaKqz7SqLGSqXH48nyV3vugZn2BgCc2brM5lNKBX4_C6TDLJLY36w6Og6wpYq7oQudr1hDpl6YUWD0n9Ymy4JDY/s1600/Page+0edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2nVnCpR8q40vcJ4WWHlLBzUnE1Ptx88UHcobjMF9zp3bLWu_O0fFCUaKqz7SqLGSqXH48nyV3vugZn2BgCc2brM5lNKBX4_C6TDLJLY36w6Og6wpYq7oQudr1hDpl6YUWD0n9Ymy4JDY/s400/Page+0edit.jpg" width="262" /></a></div>
<br />
Once it was all dry I gave it three coats of spray and shine varnish allowing it to dry between coats.<br />
<br />
I had never tried anything like this before but I really enjoyed doing it and it helped pass the time on a really rainy Easter Sunday.<br />

It hasn't been easy especially as both hubby and I have been fighting what has become known in the press as the Liverpool Lurgy - a really nasty cold virus. So thanks once again to everyone who has sponsored me.<br />
<br />
Over at Ooh La La we had some gorgeous entries into our 'Spring is in the Air Challenge' to see if you are a winner pop over to <a href="http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Ooh La La Creations Challenge blog.</a> Whilst you are there why don't you have a look at our latest challenge chosen by Wynn? The theme is .....<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">'Feathered Friends'</span></b></div>
<br />
I couldn't resist using this challenge as a kick start into scrapbooking a fabulous day out I had with hubby at a local Owl Sanctuary. We went in January and were incredibly lucky that when the birds were being flown for their daily exercise we were invited to join in flying the Owls and other birds of prey.<br />
<br />
To keep to the theme all the papers and the embellishments and titles have been cut from papers from the 'Blue Tit' and the 'Bull Finch' folders on the Yesterday's Memories CD. If you wish to purchase a copy please click on the image below.<br />

</div>
<br />
<br />
Hello everyone firstly a huge thank you from me to all those who have shown their support for my 10,0000 steps a day challenge.<br />
<br />
I now know several distances near to where I live in steps. It isn't easy but I am enjoying it, it gets difficult if it is hammering with rain but in the beautiful spring like weather we had yesterday it is a real pleasure to get out and about.<br />
<br />
Now onto the business of Ooh La La - we had some great entries for the add a sentiment challenge and to find out if you are a winner then pop over to the <a href="http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Ooh La La Creations Challenge blog</a>.<br />
<br />
Now this fortnight our theme is 'Spring is in the Air' and it is appropriate that the weather here seems to have brightened up this last week.<br />
<br />
I used the Shawn Jenkins collection CD for my card, click on the image to go to the website to purchase your copy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/siteimages/Image7%20(2).jpg" width="199" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoGfRvdxeMTfOY41FRnH24wRJHOrWsHkptmMzjzYFHiJO-SeUFLxQQU4vZPphuRhR8VYQtmJ-SWvxP6epRxHQJNlzsXCBSiVHmv_xeoC-nSTEUhWCc7ma5zZf9BFaQxYMFxflarvj3r9M/s1600/spring+is+in+the+air+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="634" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoGfRvdxeMTfOY41FRnH24wRJHOrWsHkptmMzjzYFHiJO-SeUFLxQQU4vZPphuRhR8VYQtmJ-SWvxP6epRxHQJNlzsXCBSiVHmv_xeoC-nSTEUhWCc7ma5zZf9BFaQxYMFxflarvj3r9M/s640/spring+is+in+the+air+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the combination of green and pink for spring so this card came together really easily. Just using the papers from the same folder as the topper.<br />
<br />

Now back to the task in hand and it is a huge thank you all for your entries into our Clean and Simple challenge at Ooh La La Creations last time out. There were some beautiful projects entered to see if you have been chosen as our top three pop over to the <a href="http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Ooh La La Creations Challenge Blog.</a> Whilst you are there you can check out the DT projects for the new challenge this fortnight<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">' Add a Sentiment'</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">For my project I chose my favourite image from the Yesterdays Memories CD to work with. You can purchase a copy of this CD from the Ooh La La Creations web site by clicking on the image below </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/siteimages/cover%20sepia2.jpg" style="text-align: center;" width="197" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIwrwkHFq8DDMzbPlABfRAS8-3udz_KHo6gDYYeBHgqEgub5pE2ZY2QyHrwPlWHGyp-MtPQb9DW73oYxnWqjNsDa4_t-wT6OvQnpXYSLOCOyDkBv_EwPErnkkwXhef5vKsNsmUi-Lot6E/s1600/Add+a+sentiment+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="618" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIwrwkHFq8DDMzbPlABfRAS8-3udz_KHo6gDYYeBHgqEgub5pE2ZY2QyHrwPlWHGyp-MtPQb9DW73oYxnWqjNsDa4_t-wT6OvQnpXYSLOCOyDkBv_EwPErnkkwXhef5vKsNsmUi-Lot6E/s640/Add+a+sentiment+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The inspiration for this card came when I saw some sets of ribbons and buttons in my local LIDL store for £1.00 I obtained 5 reels of pretty ribbon with three coordinating buttons for each design. Having got the ribbons home I decided that the pattern on this one would work perfectly with my favourite image from The Yesterdays' Memories CD. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used the backing papers from the same folder on the CD to make a multi layered background wrapping the ribbon that had been threaded through a charm of the Eiffel Tower around the centre panel. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't what it is about this image, if it is the name of the folder on the CD which is Ooh La La, but the very first time I was sent it to work with I thought of Paris in the 1930's. In my head the young lady has woken up in her apartment on a Sunday morning and is surveying the world from her balcony. I imaging the balcony has long drapes with tasselled tie backs hence the die cut at the side of the topper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added a further die cut this time of the Eiffel Tower again in pale lilac, to compliment the grey tones in teh backing papers. I then added two strips of die cut bunting. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made my own sentiments by printing onto small sections of one of the backing papers and then matting these onto the lilac card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMAMSgfkx_HLLGNqwgTsP9g8K5E9kx9rXoKDCohLlRzWitxn2_9pcpMr6jsK0RDdf9EAsUCTcNSBlAuWKOac_MhCWTWHdHr0V16EYc3OfHSASWWfQ8keUEvuipV-J4JP34WnxyDoPrIK8/s1600/add+a+sentiment+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="164" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMAMSgfkx_HLLGNqwgTsP9g8K5E9kx9rXoKDCohLlRzWitxn2_9pcpMr6jsK0RDdf9EAsUCTcNSBlAuWKOac_MhCWTWHdHr0V16EYc3OfHSASWWfQ8keUEvuipV-J4JP34WnxyDoPrIK8/s320/add+a+sentiment+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Inside I have lined the card with backing paper and it is now in my stock of cards that I keep to send to people and before it is sent I will add a personalised panel into the card as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So that's me done for this blog and I'm off to polish my trainers ready to 'walk all over Cancer' starting tomorrow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Hello all, once again we had some wonderful creations for our Love is in the Air Challenge to see if you are one of our top three pop over to the <a href="http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Ooh La La Creations Challenge Blog</a>.<br />
<br />
Our theme for the next fortnight is 'Clean and Simple'<br />
<br />
I used the folder 'Sorcha' from the Fairies & Blooms CD you can purchase a copy from Ooh La La Creations by clicking on the image below<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/siteimages/shoes%201%20(5).jpg" width="197" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's my card<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0329RirD_D4_-st4bFhrsu3T1G7dWu5Z3XMWsAOtf-_PqRWyS7HqXV13GLcntTKK7vjO3KDzZBS7YyoL7EHvM683L18E9Xo53L_vONw-VZWTM846xQYIYjvZR5vKNLd4aOwEvCZqHO34/s1600/cas1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0329RirD_D4_-st4bFhrsu3T1G7dWu5Z3XMWsAOtf-_PqRWyS7HqXV13GLcntTKK7vjO3KDzZBS7YyoL7EHvM683L18E9Xo53L_vONw-VZWTM846xQYIYjvZR5vKNLd4aOwEvCZqHO34/s640/cas1.jpg" width="470" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I loved the black with the peach and orange. The panel on the left is one of the bookmarks from the CD and all I added was black card to matt and layer.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRZuoe6ilbbum7u8Oo9CSqQm6vmeyyOCcAr68oNE3KeXyYzt2n6y824TgtegCSNEoWdvQ9trFgY9ZGr-mt0tLLZ43RdGhxb0yJGhukRXc7a3whGmRvBst3S_kcFG1d76WOX59uCOidgM8/s1600/cas2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRZuoe6ilbbum7u8Oo9CSqQm6vmeyyOCcAr68oNE3KeXyYzt2n6y824TgtegCSNEoWdvQ9trFgY9ZGr-mt0tLLZ43RdGhxb0yJGhukRXc7a3whGmRvBst3S_kcFG1d76WOX59uCOidgM8/s320/cas2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also used the insert from the folder to finish off the inside of the card.</div>

</div>
<br />
Hello everyone. I hope you are all surviving the wretched weather we are having at the moment, having been battered by storm Gertrude it would appear that we are now in the throes of Storm Henry here in the UK. I can hear the hailstones hitting the windows as I type.<br />
<br />
It has therefore been a really welcome reminder of springtime looking at some of the entries into our last challenge at Ooh La La Creations 'In The Country'. To see if you made our top three pop over to the <a href="http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Ooh La La Creations challenge blog.</a><br />
<br />
This time our theme is<span style="font-size: large;"><b> </b></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Love and Romance</b></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;">
I used an image and papers from the 'Say it with Words' CD to make this easel card. If you want a copy of the CD click on the image below to take you to the website, and whilst you are there check out the free downloads section for some lovely images.</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/siteimages/cover%20for%20marie.jpg" width="198" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4Jkk-4eKJlRPhvt93E9LrXyZvyka6MrZGLuvvQ8cV0iB0bhld3jqv7iNOjFv9itGhdiAjUX1Kz26UnnxGF0kLBTrG3Sv-bNJSFbz_nT9U3f7hItEgbqqJZ79zHjwm3uAZYBIIpVggZQc/s1600/love+and+romance+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4Jkk-4eKJlRPhvt93E9LrXyZvyka6MrZGLuvvQ8cV0iB0bhld3jqv7iNOjFv9itGhdiAjUX1Kz26UnnxGF0kLBTrG3Sv-bNJSFbz_nT9U3f7hItEgbqqJZ79zHjwm3uAZYBIIpVggZQc/s640/love+and+romance+1.jpg" width="542" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided to go with a heart shaped front to the card which I cut freehand and covered this with the gorgeous background paper from the 'I really really love you' folder on the CD. I enlarged a section of one of the other background papers to print off the patterned heart and used smaller versions of this same heart for the corners. I had the filigree heart strip in my stash and the net is part of a fruit bag from the supermarket.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I fussy cut the image of the little girl and mounted her on black card before fussy cutting again. The bunting is also on teh CD and I just added the letters to spell the word 'LOVE' </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The stopper for the easel is a ticket again from the CD which I added the words to to be revealed as the card opens. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The card folds flat for posting .</div>

<br />
Back in September we went to Wales for a week and was able to try my new camera out on some glorious scenery. I decided when doing scrapbook of the holiday that I wanted these pictures on a 12x12 page so having chosen a neutral paper for the base I ripped a piece out of the top and inked the edges of the tear before adding a piece of backing paper from the <a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank">Paula Oakley Collection CD </a>in the gap. I then used various papers from teh bonus paper folder on the <a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank">Dreams of Tranquility CD</a> to make the layers. These papers are truly gorgeous being taken from photographs of natural textures such as bark and cedar branches then printed in several different colours. I chose touse the tones of brown and light green for the papers I used here.Alli Devinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10728200530947572666noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2576018821757913439.post-89391223867146192182016-01-04T09:00:00.000+00:002016-01-04T09:00:17.370+00:00A very Girlie New Year at Ooh La La Creations.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here is my project for the challenge I found this old photo of my Grand daughter looking very girlie, which is quite unusual for her as she is a definite tom boy.<br />
<br />
So I used papers from the Paula Oakley Collection CD to create a scrap book page. You can purchase one from the website by clicking on the image below.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For my design this time I have used 'With help from my Friends' on the 'Christmas Presence' CD. You can purchase a copy by clicking on the image below.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/siteimages/xmas%20pres%20564.jpg" height="200" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirk5dFaqD1ZSBaIW_1HjxrS6dR_MHmi6O0KaZwLKFrgWaMUoYxYl4LLtA4cL1y0fZI2R1j0QQURVJh2gaZwLGE67-3HXo9QpV-sAXd0-G_hxlJwlVbnrbQedHCRc0sRG7xfukokDEDFkY/s1600/Let+it+snow+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="632" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirk5dFaqD1ZSBaIW_1HjxrS6dR_MHmi6O0KaZwLKFrgWaMUoYxYl4LLtA4cL1y0fZI2R1j0QQURVJh2gaZwLGE67-3HXo9QpV-sAXd0-G_hxlJwlVbnrbQedHCRc0sRG7xfukokDEDFkY/s640/Let+it+snow+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a snow globe template to make my card blank. Once I had printed off the image I used the template to mark and cut the image in a circle that was slightly larger than the aperture. I added some glitter to the image and whilst this was drying I covered the front of the snow globe with one of the backing papers from the folder.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't have any acetate in my stash so I used a cello card bag which I stuck behind the aperture and then trimed and sealed the open edges using super sticky tape but leaving a small opening at the top. I put half a teaspoon of flower soft polar white and crystal glitter into the bag and then sealed the top. I used double sided sticky foam all around the edges of the bag and once the glitter on the image was dry I stuck this to the back.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I die cut several snow flakes from white glitter card and a silver snow flake border and arranged these around the aperture. I finished off with the Happy Christmas tag and bows tied using an ice blue organza ribbon.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love this image and have used it on several cards and projects. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I printed off the image and the page curl backing paper and a contrasting paper from the same folder and the sentiment was taken from a quick card on the same CD.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I matted the page curl paper on a plum coloured pearl paper and adhered the panel to the an ivory card blank. I decided to use paper lace as well as real lace in my project and die cut the Celtic heart and the heart corner from the same plum coloured paper. I also cut lacy bunting from the contrasting paper. I used the contrasting paper on the corner of the card to look as if it has been revealed by teh page curl.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I added a strip of real lace across the centre and then matted the image onto plum paper and a cream scalloped oval. I used dies to make the lacy flowers and added shell pink pearls to the centres. The Pearl swirls are from a selection available in the <a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/Bling.aspx" target="_blank">Ooh La La shop</a>.</div>

<b><span style="font-size: large;">Embossing</span></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That can be dry, heat embossing or even faux embossing so long as embossing is featured on your project I have used all three on mine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used an image from the bonus images folder on The 'Yesterday's Memories' CD </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi11_9sJ2uJiI3W79iE4yEkuYLtH37dpj2prBt5zAOb8ab9xymw_l_9V-ri5znmO7ZlCDG-sSI3qkknVoXPBoZID-7FLsqW54KIDz7ue0fbcdn9vuSxYVSm01rD-z_rwdLk70VvqIQ9wfc/s1600/Embossing+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi11_9sJ2uJiI3W79iE4yEkuYLtH37dpj2prBt5zAOb8ab9xymw_l_9V-ri5znmO7ZlCDG-sSI3qkknVoXPBoZID-7FLsqW54KIDz7ue0fbcdn9vuSxYVSm01rD-z_rwdLk70VvqIQ9wfc/s640/Embossing+1.jpg" width="632" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I printed the topper and the matching backing paper onto white card then cut a square of the backing paper to fit an 8x8 card and matted this onto gold pearl paper and trimmed it to leave a narrow border.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used ranger embossing ink around the edge of topper and heat embossed it with fairy tale gold embossing powder from 'papermania'. I then matted it onto the gold pearl paper and trimmed it to leave a narrow border. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I cut a panel of cream pearl paper and embossed this using the 'chains' embossing folder from Tattered Lace and I wrapped a piece of red satin and red velvet ribbon round the panel and matted it onto gold pearl paper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I layered the panels up and tucked the corner of the topper under the ribbon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The ornaments and bell are faux embossed they are actually die cut lattice ornaments layered onto the same colour of paper to give an embossed look to them.I threaded them all with sparkly thread and 'hung' them at different heights fastening the loose ends of thread over the back of the main panel before securing it to a cream card blank.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I added a red organza bow and some red gems. I added red Gems to the topper and finished off with die cut and embossed Christmas roses and some pine branches leaves and pine cones.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
<br /></div>

<br /></div>
I don't really do Halloween but having scrapped some photos of the grand children from last year I had some lovely Graphic 45 papers called 'Once Upon an Eerie Tale' in my stash. I also had a few foam shapes so I used these to make two panels which I then stuck to the front and back of a plain white bag. I added some dangling bead and charm embellishments that I made from old bits of Jewellery that I had found in local charity shops.<br />
<br />
The small 'Day of the Dead' skull was made from a plastic tree ornament from my local supermarket it had blue LED lights inside so I just used some decopatch papers from my stash to cover it.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used the image from the Hearts and Laces folder on the CD and the plaid backing paper is from the same folder the pink 'textured' paper is from the bonus papers folder.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The bag was one I had left over after making the gift bags for my two youngest grandsons' Christenings</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I started by cutting the pink textured paper in two and sticking it top and bottom of a plain white A 4 card that I had run through a patchwork embossing folder. I resized the image to make it larger and used a large oval die to cut it out and used double sided foam tape to stick it to the centre of the panel.I die cut the lettered bunting from white card and backed this with green card before arranging it underneath the oval and securing it. The teddy and 'baby Girl' were cut from white card stock and added to the panel.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once I had completed the panel I stuck it to the bag using super sticky tape. I then positioned the bunting along the top and cut a length of lace which I secured behind the bunting and then stuck this along the top panel. The flowers and heart pins are from my stash.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUMZDBVfIvXmqtH9_i28UyTPS_pOIruQxZMS_FVQAlueshbUBHIZCmZ4JOV7LI0sb9TK-SDtQCZSN-1TnZhFxV20G_-KwwOtn3bF0blxEmFN9boI9ttn2-UPrwYp_dgt7Q4CmMyhi-uvQ/s1600/hearts+and+laces+back+.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUMZDBVfIvXmqtH9_i28UyTPS_pOIruQxZMS_FVQAlueshbUBHIZCmZ4JOV7LI0sb9TK-SDtQCZSN-1TnZhFxV20G_-KwwOtn3bF0blxEmFN9boI9ttn2-UPrwYp_dgt7Q4CmMyhi-uvQ/s640/hearts+and+laces+back+.jpg" width="424" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the back of the bag I used another of the backing papers from the Hearts and Laces folder and wrapped ribbon threaded lace top and bottom before securing to the bag. I added a strip of white card that had been embossed through a Patchwork embossing folder. I die cut three hearts in decreasing sizes from white, and green card stock and the plaid backing paper and hen attached this to the centre of the patchwork strip.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added a die cut sentiment to the heart and then covered a plain white tag with the plaid paper and added a die cut teddy bear, before looping the tag round one of the handles. I added some white die cut butterflies and tied pink and white organza ribbon bows around the base of the handles on each side.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
I am entering this into the following challenge<br />

Our theme this time is ....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Lets Get Krafty</b></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have to say I loved this challenge, I love working with Kraft card as it is so versatile so decided to try something a little different. So I came up with a note book for all my inspirational jottings. I used the 'Say It With Words' CD for the image on the front cover on my book but as you will see as you read on I used something from every Ooh La La CD in the project. You can Purchase any of the CD's by clicking on the image below </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.ooh-la-la-creations.com/siteimages/cover%20for%20marie.jpg" height="200" width="198" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGryEFQK7j-6m1VJ_RWvk4VZKR959R_L7msy6vlirPv3l-NdlP5issAicLEyt0p8UYIH3m18ei6CtGEEjLuD0-X_RnSgY4gdCk8XKuNP0pSJc4dSA5AqFvbemtVBtbpCg206dGbptOpMU/s1600/lets+get+krafty+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGryEFQK7j-6m1VJ_RWvk4VZKR959R_L7msy6vlirPv3l-NdlP5issAicLEyt0p8UYIH3m18ei6CtGEEjLuD0-X_RnSgY4gdCk8XKuNP0pSJc4dSA5AqFvbemtVBtbpCg206dGbptOpMU/s640/lets+get+krafty+1.jpg" width="428" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I knew I wanted to incorporate a technique I had seen Sheena Douglass demonstrate on Create and Craft some time ago so after much searching I found her tutorial on making Faux Leather from Kraft card on You tube you can find it <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfunaRazSSo" target="_blank">here. </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A basic summary of the technique is that you use a small mister bottle and put approx 1/4 of the bottles volume of glycerine inside then top it up with water and give it a good shake.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZaHJa6Wq-KBZTQOeu1hj3YG9ImVQD2fE8K5MtlR0oF9mmrovQz5pDYcvM4hraYj2sRd4E42XEBUzjDAQyGFfQgy0Q6FkxTBDFdd0j42nW69dPxLG-ApDqjgrIluF9CcX7uoOI_SsQAyo/s1600/lets+get+krafty+15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZaHJa6Wq-KBZTQOeu1hj3YG9ImVQD2fE8K5MtlR0oF9mmrovQz5pDYcvM4hraYj2sRd4E42XEBUzjDAQyGFfQgy0Q6FkxTBDFdd0j42nW69dPxLG-ApDqjgrIluF9CcX7uoOI_SsQAyo/s200/lets+get+krafty+15.jpg" width="121" /></a>Then take a piece of Kraft card and starting in the centre spray the water and glycerine mix on the card a little at a time rubbing the mixture into the card so that the fibres soak it up. The card will start to soften ( it's also great for making your hands soft too). Keep going until you have covered all the surface area of the card and got it really nice and soft. Once you have got it to this stage start to crumple the piece of card into a ball in your hand. This should be really easy and you should be able to get a really tight ball without the card ripping. Having given it a really good scrunch you very carefully unfold it and you are left with lots of creases in the surface.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
using distress inks ink the surface to make the creases stand out - I used 'Frayed Burlap' 'Aged Mahogany' and 'Tea Stain' on my project. Once I was happy with the colour I used a heat tool to dry it, you can just leave it to dry naturally but it takes several hours. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To complete the look of old leather I then passed mine through and embossing folder and sealed it with spray and shine. You don't have to emboss it but you need the spray and shine to seal the surface. </div>
I then used a tiny amount of gilding wax to give it a faded gilt effect in patches on the surface.<br />
<br />
I had a book I had bought from a local supermarket for my jottings so I decided to use the 'leather' to cover it.<br />
<br />
The book had elastic attached to keep it closed so I slit the 'leather' to allow the elastic to pass through. The book is slightly larger than A5 so I had to use two pieces of the 'leather and I covered the front and back and overlapped the pieces on the front just to the left of the spine and covered the join with self adhesive lace. to secure the leather in place on the inside of the book I used wet glue - double sided tape doesn't work as it doesn't stick to the leather very well.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTN16x1viFxJtJH-fz-HcoXb1wuWgbYmvkPCqBZBXq4hRbtvVxyJ_D8aidY6wyp_1wjRavkkv-RdodoagZZkyBScGp2ZWX8QbcqW01vrPOMnhs78tlaHMzVw-iVX0vJKpahLxmZ6T7iqU/s1600/lets+get+krafty+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTN16x1viFxJtJH-fz-HcoXb1wuWgbYmvkPCqBZBXq4hRbtvVxyJ_D8aidY6wyp_1wjRavkkv-RdodoagZZkyBScGp2ZWX8QbcqW01vrPOMnhs78tlaHMzVw-iVX0vJKpahLxmZ6T7iqU/s320/lets+get+krafty+2.jpg" width="310" /></a>Once I had the book covered I went to town decorating it.<br />
<br />
I started by using a really appropriate image from the Say it with Words CD and also printed off the matching book mark to place over the ribbon already in the book. I made the tags using the blank tickets that are also included in the CD, and used one of these tags for the title. The flowers are from the embellishments part of the CD and the rest of the embellishments rare from my stash.<br />
<br />
The little wooden buttons I have used on mine are also available from Ooh La La creations.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Once I was happy with the cover design I turned my attention to the inside and having found appropriate papers for the front and back inside papers I started to search all my Ooh La La CDs for appropriate bits to add. The page tags are also from Say it With Words.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhuoo2WzspfCyLDAs-rbLDho6Sp0dFJpvebBxTD5yahTaU0nC_M14Zl4BB1yYFv22fnzyIfheHkyUmviVc07_ZYvhHr7Q4nkO2fPrRbIPZJUnvtDLlFVAx19_ahz2utUa2pKczknp2xUQ/s1600/lets+get+krafty+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="365" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhuoo2WzspfCyLDAs-rbLDho6Sp0dFJpvebBxTD5yahTaU0nC_M14Zl4BB1yYFv22fnzyIfheHkyUmviVc07_ZYvhHr7Q4nkO2fPrRbIPZJUnvtDLlFVAx19_ahz2utUa2pKczknp2xUQ/s400/lets+get+krafty+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I found the bookmark on the 'Boys to Men' CD and it had a wonderful quote from John Locke about reading so I then raided the 'Kidiwinks' CD to find the books with the sailing ship on to add to the front page. I made a pocket for useful bits and pieces like my colour wheel. The Kraft tag was in my stash already stamped with the sentiment so I added that.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG2E33eqcCkxSNt1QZi8yFBxaFVPIC8KKV9NoOhMMAVStDrUXFd9A0STE6WmCtO-Jic2ps59xrcMG7mrOUMdZ530evAdY3WnEigtQDoyYJVn-vrLlyFUifkiyoYDXu4uSph692CVhdg6A/s1600/lets+get+crafty+4a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG2E33eqcCkxSNt1QZi8yFBxaFVPIC8KKV9NoOhMMAVStDrUXFd9A0STE6WmCtO-Jic2ps59xrcMG7mrOUMdZ530evAdY3WnEigtQDoyYJVn-vrLlyFUifkiyoYDXu4uSph692CVhdg6A/s320/lets+get+crafty+4a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Then to make sure if I ever lose the book that it will be returned I printed off a piece of stationery from the 'Yesterday's Memories' CD to put my contact details on. I added some die cut Kraft butterflies and the hats and a tailors dummy and then added the boot and the hats from the 'Passion for Fashion' CD embellishments folder.<br />
<br />
I love Art Deco and these gift cards on the 'Yesterday's Memories' CD have a really Deco feel to them. I finished the page off with a posy of flowers from the 'All Dressed Up' CD<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpeococWOIrOVg7Qwif2j4KJXh6wNuRolW-ya9-mWtLcDVyUBi7xTsghJymWbjtpIP4BJR8MtqQXk_TlispAd4-6KHTRbK25-wW-12m5vogRTJsDgcFppAnyTLmN8h2EXIytux0aatnWY/s1600/lets+get+krafty+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpeococWOIrOVg7Qwif2j4KJXh6wNuRolW-ya9-mWtLcDVyUBi7xTsghJymWbjtpIP4BJR8MtqQXk_TlispAd4-6KHTRbK25-wW-12m5vogRTJsDgcFppAnyTLmN8h2EXIytux0aatnWY/s320/lets+get+krafty+6.jpg" width="200" /></a><br />
Whilst searching for suitable elements to include in the decoration of the book, I found a number of beautiful quotations in the various bookmarks folders across the CDs. I grouped three of these together from the 'Fleur D'imagination CD, all are about nature so the de cut leaves and butterflies worked really well with them.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVcKQYelV5g3sUu1dFXb2KfKdBlKeorv4UEWyNR2X26Jfw5-OXZ7c9Fs0ouYv7Fn7ci0PrkBZy4dmZ42h6T6c6_VmouuOeXzKlAqPGji3xfy4eA8V2KKcWXH6QpKwRp-U8flRq2MGUGuI/s1600/lets+get+Krafty+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVcKQYelV5g3sUu1dFXb2KfKdBlKeorv4UEWyNR2X26Jfw5-OXZ7c9Fs0ouYv7Fn7ci0PrkBZy4dmZ42h6T6c6_VmouuOeXzKlAqPGji3xfy4eA8V2KKcWXH6QpKwRp-U8flRq2MGUGuI/s320/lets+get+Krafty+7.jpg" width="226" /></a>Red is one of my favourite colours and cherries are one of my favourite fruits so the book mark from the 'Shoes in Bloom 2' CD worked really well with the ribbons, bows and jigsaw pieces from the 'Fairies in Bloom CD. I have a sundial in my garden so I added a die cut sundial to make the page really personal to me.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj40dQecsyzRhhbqzOAuDwdwgZIvjWVcLwab6jUHhBHqC_QoLCgo2j4ClYbb5QRk1yeo-NYnSd1Lx3gerkk6JJA76jDqEL_qaOWbYilMAhiKrMxq1TyAq-fZmHrjCc2Iw_G2WnAT7WfaUo/s1600/lets+get+Krafty+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="254" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj40dQecsyzRhhbqzOAuDwdwgZIvjWVcLwab6jUHhBHqC_QoLCgo2j4ClYbb5QRk1yeo-NYnSd1Lx3gerkk6JJA76jDqEL_qaOWbYilMAhiKrMxq1TyAq-fZmHrjCc2Iw_G2WnAT7WfaUo/s320/lets+get+Krafty+9.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Another 'Shoes in Bloom' image this time from CD 1 featured Poppies one of my favourite flowers and had a wonderful quotation about friendship so I teamed it with the bright red border from the 'Faithful Friends CD'<br />
<br />
The book mark from the left hand page is from the 'Boys to Men' CD and it really worked with this border from the 'Teentastique' CD.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw8dfXWm3irPJrga3oy-Z_-hEP7Jh_dN5qBBnGz30PenoHx28qUtXyhdLI7RTUfl4QrnVyKju5jkmBJVKjL39HGT7nXm7CTCv4wjawEBEx82D5tME9gnbTV50WihIF_O4l2Jqs_k9pLQY/s1600/+Lets+get+Krafty+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="272" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw8dfXWm3irPJrga3oy-Z_-hEP7Jh_dN5qBBnGz30PenoHx28qUtXyhdLI7RTUfl4QrnVyKju5jkmBJVKjL39HGT7nXm7CTCv4wjawEBEx82D5tME9gnbTV50WihIF_O4l2Jqs_k9pLQY/s320/+Lets+get+Krafty+5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVd7CGueAQ5W4qSAvPag8Q30WbWHoKWZF2DObBnOpSDijwnF5zAM2ZTSKHtIYjSJawNa_nm_zKD4GWX4ZtotdQvbVFYJK_V13xQNv0RL9xCi8rOnpawsy7H6maLg-QO78VDR13zAQLOV0/s1600/lets+get+krafty+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVd7CGueAQ5W4qSAvPag8Q30WbWHoKWZF2DObBnOpSDijwnF5zAM2ZTSKHtIYjSJawNa_nm_zKD4GWX4ZtotdQvbVFYJK_V13xQNv0RL9xCi8rOnpawsy7H6maLg-QO78VDR13zAQLOV0/s400/lets+get+krafty+8.jpg" width="252" /></a><br />
The book marks sections of the CDs turned out to be a real inspiration for this project and I used this one from the latest 'Paula Oakley Collection' CD because it was all about leaves I added the die cut branch and leaves to the page.<br />
<br />
I really do love my coffee and cake so I used this topper from the 'Everyday Occasions' CD and added the die cut cake stand and coffee pot. It is actually been made into a little pocket so I can keep bits and bobs inside the book.The little ribbon strips are more of the 'Teentastique' ribbons.<br />
<br />
<br />
I use the 'Shoes in Bloom' CD a lot and this is one of my favourite images from it. Called 'Dance Petticoat' it always makes me think of 1950's rock and roll. The purple border is from 'Teentastique' and the Pink Butterflies are from 'Femme Fatale, The die cut is one I use a lot and the cage is empty but this tiny bird from a Joanna Sheen die set fitted perfectly.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEbN8UUlT5ymi5NUNNffiOqJ5u6s6FgAskIEO_IcYeXsBCt-M5iyKRBdN9S-34pl7dv2vo9gWpzV_kc07nNwghJPU4w7nV2yYcOVsg6kwY5OiPdxyfQpzH_DyeSlbFLSmu1SaI9vBU8BY/s1600/lets+get+krafty+10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEbN8UUlT5ymi5NUNNffiOqJ5u6s6FgAskIEO_IcYeXsBCt-M5iyKRBdN9S-34pl7dv2vo9gWpzV_kc07nNwghJPU4w7nV2yYcOVsg6kwY5OiPdxyfQpzH_DyeSlbFLSmu1SaI9vBU8BY/s320/lets+get+krafty+10.jpg" width="204" /></a>Of course there have been a number of Christmas CDs from Ooh La La and I did wonder how to fit these into the project, without them seeming out of place. It took quite a while but then I thought about what I like about Christmas, being a bit of an ageing hippy it is the ethos of love and peace that most will buy into at Christmas when maybe it seems unfashionable to do so the rest of the time, and certainly since my five grandchildren were born it is that unquestionable magic that is founded in believing. So with this in mind I got out the Christmas CDs, I didn't have Festive Funnies but when I told Wendi the owner of Ooh La La what I was trying to do she generously sent me the images via drop box.<br />
<br />
The image of Father Christmas is from 'Christmas Presence' I chose this one rather than one of him in a red coat because I prefer him in his traditional Green Coat before he was put into a red suit by cartoonist Thomas Nast for Harpers Weekly in the 1870's.<br />
<br />
I took the Believe image from 'Yuletide Wishes' as I love the teddy bears. Peace and Love are from 'Festive Funnies' in the sentiments section. The Peace tag is already to print out but the Love one I adding by adding text to a blank tag in the folder. I love these rosettes as they look really dimensional but are actually printed flat. The little lantern I added is actually a bird house from a collection from dies by x-cut.<br />

The 'Shawn Jenkins' CD is one of my favourites and right from the off I was always going to include this bookmark in the design. I love butterflies and I think the colours are stunning but I also really like the quotation 'If nothing changed there would be no butterflies' It was something I would regularly quote to a former work colleague who didn't handle change at all well and it would always make her smile.<br />
<br />
The lovely buttons are from the embellishments section on the CD and the little tag at the top is from a topper in the Christmas section of the CD.<br />
<br />
I added another die cut butterfly from my stash.<br />

This page on the right has items from 3 CDs all working together. I printed off a mini envelope from the 'Nursery Times' CD to make a pocket that I could slip items into. As there was a frog on the corner of the envelope I decided to add another of the bookmarks from the 'Fleur D'imagination' CD which I snipped in half and layered both halves onto the envelope. I added another bookmark behind the envelope from 'The Boys to Men CD' and finished off with a die cut feather and a wood pecker - pecking the side of the book mark.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguT0JuqP9g3vT3KL7iuEtoCc977_mc8i2YDUZufUe280GcBzL7xj3zfMrdmrMpCNpUIZeYQ2pUIUGY5u1qsIOt62QeaLXuOTKMGiq0KAZ8EaDIuoP5n6p1AZmTd0yxJFkHzJutxFeMmY8/s1600/Lets+get+Krafty+13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguT0JuqP9g3vT3KL7iuEtoCc977_mc8i2YDUZufUe280GcBzL7xj3zfMrdmrMpCNpUIZeYQ2pUIUGY5u1qsIOt62QeaLXuOTKMGiq0KAZ8EaDIuoP5n6p1AZmTd0yxJFkHzJutxFeMmY8/s320/Lets+get+Krafty+13.jpg" width="212" /></a>I am not particularly into Astrology but I do know my birth sign is Cancer and I do have several of the typical traits of those born under the same sign, It therefore seemed appropriate to represent this in the book. To enable me to do this I turned to the 'Dreams of Tranquility' CD and printed off the book mark. I made another mini pocket from a mini envelope and added the sunset silhouette and the pink butterfly from the 'Silhouette Magic' CD.<br />
<br />
Having decorated the pages at the beginning of the various sections of the book all that was left was the inside back cover.<br />
<br />
I started by using a striped paper from 'Say it with Words' and then made another pocket for the back cover using paper from 'The Paula Oakley Collection' CD and an off cut of the paper on I had used on the inside front cover.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXRUJ9w-pFkfg1FA1Kp1i0LY15KWD350g_dRmPYgw9Rx_byOwmzzV3GMJ8rGbijC0DZb_A6ZSTMVLP719rfsGnzI14hCFwHNDF5axUu1sZlDmTt2QOxoJBApZ8JddJmLSiPapulEzVF4I/s1600/Lets+Get+Krafty+14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXRUJ9w-pFkfg1FA1Kp1i0LY15KWD350g_dRmPYgw9Rx_byOwmzzV3GMJ8rGbijC0DZb_A6ZSTMVLP719rfsGnzI14hCFwHNDF5axUu1sZlDmTt2QOxoJBApZ8JddJmLSiPapulEzVF4I/s400/Lets+Get+Krafty+14.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I slotted in more bookmarks including this gorgeous image of poppies from the 'Carnival of Colour' CD. Some self adhesive lace and some images from 'Passion fo Fashion' and a fussy cut key hole from my stash completer the back cover. The facing page has been decorated with Postcards from 'Yesterday's Memories' one of them forming a pocket and further elements from the 'Passion for Fashion' embellishments folder.<br />
<br />
So all that remains no is for me to fill my little book with things that inspire me. It currently has pride of place in my craft room and looks so much better than it did in its original red plastic cover.<br />

This year in my garde I have grown Siberian Irises the plant has been in the garden for a few years but I moved another plant that was crowding it and the irises rewarded me with a gorgeous display. So this image reminds me of the lovely spring and early summer show they put on in my garden.</div>

<br />
I started this project by finding the ribbon I wanted to use out of my stash I love the vivid blue of this organza ribbon and it makes gorgeous bows so it was just perfect. Then I searched the CD until I found an image that would work with blue.<br />
<br />
I also had some dark Blue card blanks and matching card stock left over from last years Christmas cards so I used one of the blanks wrapped the ribbon round pretty backing paper and stuck it directly onto the card blank. I added a white doily and when I cut out the topper I left a narrow white border of card and matted this onto the blue card stock. I stuck this to the card overlapping the doily, and then die cut the iris twice using blue and green card stock I cut the blue flower off and stuck it over the green one to give me the green stem and leaves.<br />
<br />
I cut the sentiment from the blue card stock using a Tattered Lace die and stuck it onto white card then matted this onto more of the blue card. I tied a double bow in the organza ribbon and added a small ribbon flower to the centre then stuck it to the card. I then finished off with some blue gems and the metal butterfly.<br />

The inserts inside the card are on the CD as DL inserts but by shrinking them slightly using MCS they are perfect for the inside of the card.Alli Devinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10728200530947572666noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2576018821757913439.post-30437280899565860162015-08-31T09:00:00.000+01:002015-08-31T09:00:15.990+01:00Signs of Autumn at OOH La La Creations<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

The backing papers are all from the same folder and I matted them all onto black card stock before sticking them to an Ivory card blank. I matted the image onto black then ivory and then added this at an angle. I made the sentiment by shrinking the backing paper down to compress the colour banding - using MCS and then added the wording. I matted it onto black then ivory to match the image and then added 3 small gems. The flowers were made by using pages from an old book the paper was very thin so I glued several pages together and coated them in Mod Podge before I cut them out using a Tim Holtz die and used gems in autumn tones for the centres. The leaves are just peel offs that I put onto ivory card stock and then cut round and I added a real skeleton leaf to finish.Alli Devinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10728200530947572666noreply@blogger.com3
