About Me

My photo
Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom
I have been crafting since May 2008, when in desperation to find an unusual birthday card for my Mum, I gave up looking in the shops and decided to have a go at making my own. I soon realised that crafting is addictive and I haven't brought a card since. In 2011 I completed my certificate in papercrafting as a result of the work I did as part of the course I started entering challenges on line and in magazines. I applied for design teams and also started making samples for Ooh La La Creations for their shows on Create and Craft. I have now completed my Diploma in professional crafting and most recently been runner up in the Papercrafter of the Year 2013 a competition run by Papercraft essentials magazine, I don't have a particular style I like to use elements from lots of styles and techniques, although I do love all things vintage. In 2014 I started to move more towards scrapbooking to take care of the huge family archive of photographs that were stored in my attic. I have continued cardmaking and Scrapbooking through 2015 and 2016 but have also become interested in off the page projects. I hope to be able focus on these in the future.

It's a Man Thing at Ooh La La Creations

Happy Monday everyone, yes indeed it is a Man thing at Ooh La La Creations this week. Thanks for the lovely four legged friends you shared with us last time and congratulations to the winners you can see then by popping over to the Ooh La La Creations challenge blog and whilst yo are there you can see the DT inspiration for this weeks challenge.

I often see on forums that crafters struggle for ideas for mens' cards and I have far more male relatives than female so I get loads of practice with making male themed cards. However this year for my dad's birthday I wanted something different he usually gets a gardening related one as he loves his garden. So here is his birthday card which I am using for my DT card for this challenge as well.

All the images are from the Boys to Men CD

I added my own die cut cut clouds to the blue backing paper and then matted and layered the papers up. The border is also from the CD and I used two different cloud design labels from the tags and sentiments folder and added my own text using my craft studio. The main image is one of Ooh La La's pyrimage images but I left a couple of layers out so it doesn't stand too proud.

Inside the card I used the base image of the pyrimage and expanded it and then reduced the opacity of the print so I could cut two matching sheets for lining the card. I added a blank oval using My Craft Studio and also added a sentiment that says it all about my Dad he has always been special and always my Dad.

I am entering the card into the following Challenges
