About Me

My photo
Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom
I have been crafting since May 2008, when in desperation to find an unusual birthday card for my Mum, I gave up looking in the shops and decided to have a go at making my own. I soon realised that crafting is addictive and I haven't brought a card since. In 2011 I completed my certificate in papercrafting as a result of the work I did as part of the course I started entering challenges on line and in magazines. I applied for design teams and also started making samples for Ooh La La Creations for their shows on Create and Craft. I have now completed my Diploma in professional crafting and most recently been runner up in the Papercrafter of the Year 2013 a competition run by Papercraft essentials magazine, I don't have a particular style I like to use elements from lots of styles and techniques, although I do love all things vintage. In 2014 I started to move more towards scrapbooking to take care of the huge family archive of photographs that were stored in my attic. I have continued cardmaking and Scrapbooking through 2015 and 2016 but have also become interested in off the page projects. I hope to be able focus on these in the future.

All I want for Christmas is a A .......

....Beatle, so sang Dora Bryan in 1963 expressing the Christmas wish of the majority of teenage girls in England. Regular readers of my blog will know that I am still a massive Beatle fan so I couldn't resist using Dora's song as inspiration for this card.

No recycling on this one. I drew the image of my Beatle and coloured him using Spectrun Noir markers. I actually copied him from an old newspaper cartoon in one of my Beatles scrapbooks from the 60's. He is representative of any of the fab four moptops but to me he is George because he is and always will be my favourite.

I then cut out the stocking from green, red and white felt and pieced this together so George is just peeping out. I added a layer of stickles to the white felt and added a green gingham bow.

I cut a piece of white mirror card using a plain oval die, which I then embossed using a snowflake folder. This was backed with the lovely stripy paper from Papermania and added the computer generated sentiments.

For anyone who is unfamiliar with the song - although I'm pretty sure any ladies of a certain age reading this will be I have reproduced the lyrics below.

Christmas comes but once a year,
They're really all the same.
I know just what I want
It really is a shame.
Yesterday I saw something that is my pride and joy.
I want it for Christmas
It's a real live Liverpool boy.

All I want for Christmas is a Beatle.
Not a Teddy bear, a Beatle.
I told mum that nothing else would do.
There are four of them so she can have one too.
I don't care which ever one she gets me
Ringo, Paul, John, George, they're all the same.
I can't wait for Christmas day to come
'Cause all I want for Christmas is a Beatle.

There's nothing else I really want for Christmas
So mama please do help me get my wish.
Don't tell Dad 'cause I don't think he'll agree
To a Beatle hanging on our Christmas tree.
But if I know I'm really going to have one,
Then I'll know my life will be complete.
I can't wait for Christmas Day to come
'Cause all I want for Christmas is a Beatle.

All the girls are really going to love me.
When I introduce him as my Christmas toy.
I can't wait for Christmas day to come
'Cause all I want for Christmas is a Beatle

(oh that fab 'airdo)

And yes before anyone asks I do have a copy of this record in my Beatle collection
