About Me

My photo
Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom
I have been crafting since May 2008, when in desperation to find an unusual birthday card for my Mum, I gave up looking in the shops and decided to have a go at making my own. I soon realised that crafting is addictive and I haven't brought a card since. In 2011 I completed my certificate in papercrafting as a result of the work I did as part of the course I started entering challenges on line and in magazines. I applied for design teams and also started making samples for Ooh La La Creations for their shows on Create and Craft. I have now completed my Diploma in professional crafting and most recently been runner up in the Papercrafter of the Year 2013 a competition run by Papercraft essentials magazine, I don't have a particular style I like to use elements from lots of styles and techniques, although I do love all things vintage. In 2014 I started to move more towards scrapbooking to take care of the huge family archive of photographs that were stored in my attic. I have continued cardmaking and Scrapbooking through 2015 and 2016 but have also become interested in off the page projects. I hope to be able focus on these in the future.

Three Down, Twenty One to Go

The challenge at Through the Purple Haze this week is to use 'favourite colours' I have to say when it comes to designing I love working with red, because it can produce such dramatic results. I have teamed it black white and gold to produce this Anniversary Card.

Materials used
Card blank from Hobby Craft - I don't usually use A5 pre folded blanks as I prefer to fold my own but couldn't resist a pack of these blanks with the delicate punched edge.

Image 'My Funky Valentine' digital stamp from Simply Betty
coloured with Spectrum Noirs
Skin FS1, 2, 3 TN1,
Hair IG 4,6,8,10
Eyes, JG2
Dress and Umbrella CR10, DR1, 2, 3,7
Lace ruffle IG1
Heart, GB4
I added tiny black gems for the buttons on the coat and red Gems and Glitter to the hairpiece.

The backing paper is from Raspberry Road and came free with a magazine

Roses from wild orchid crafts

Red and gold mirror card, Black lace and ribbon and the two punched butterflies from my stash.

I fussy cut the top and the bottom of the image then used the second largest plain circle nestabilities die to cut the centre section. I then mounted it onto a gold background which had been cut using the largest circle from the set.

I matted and layered the backing paper onto gold then red card and wrapped a scrap of black lace and red polka dot ribbon that had a bow tied in it round the lower third of teh panel before sticking to the card blank. I then added the image panel and the roses and the die cut gold leaves.

The greetings panel is red card mounted onto gold mirror card with the die cut sentiment added and the two butterflies.

I wanted the filigree border to be visible when the card was opened so only lined the right hand side of the card. I used red card and then added the tumbling heart die cuts the smallest heart is cut from pearl card stock so that a greeting can be added from the sender inside.

I am entering the card into the following challenges
