About Me

My photo
Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom
I have been crafting since May 2008, when in desperation to find an unusual birthday card for my Mum, I gave up looking in the shops and decided to have a go at making my own. I soon realised that crafting is addictive and I haven't brought a card since. In 2011 I completed my certificate in papercrafting as a result of the work I did as part of the course I started entering challenges on line and in magazines. I applied for design teams and also started making samples for Ooh La La Creations for their shows on Create and Craft. I have now completed my Diploma in professional crafting and most recently been runner up in the Papercrafter of the Year 2013 a competition run by Papercraft essentials magazine, I don't have a particular style I like to use elements from lots of styles and techniques, although I do love all things vintage. In 2014 I started to move more towards scrapbooking to take care of the huge family archive of photographs that were stored in my attic. I have continued cardmaking and Scrapbooking through 2015 and 2016 but have also become interested in off the page projects. I hope to be able focus on these in the future.

Lilac, Perfume and pearls.

When I saw this weeks challenge at CD Sunday had been set by Wendy (Purple Crazy) It came as no surprise that the challenge was to use purple in the design. I was lucky enough to win a challenge at CD Sunday recently, and my prize arrived on Saturday morning. Thanks to Carol over there I am now the proud owner of some of Debbi Moore's gorgeous Shabby chic CD's. I managed to have brief browse on Saturday evening and so when I saw the challenge I knew exactly which CD I could go for. I have used the Debbi Moore Shabby Chic Paris CD, for the backing papers and alphabets on the card below.

I printed off the lilac striped backing paper and mounted this onto dark purple card and added a faux stitched border using a white gel pen. I also printed off two different backing papers featuring the roses over text and also over musical scores, a sheet of the decoupage roses and the alphabet.

The other papers were matted onto pieces of pale lilac card stock from my scrap box as were the letters and there was enough of the lilac card fro me to punch a fancy border for the alphabets to be stuck to. The topper was a freebie with a magazine but had a lovely feminine feel to it and the butterflies are reflected in the die cut butterfly I added, which was just sitting on my craft table as a left over from another project. I added two types of Organza ribbon one a lovely wide lilac check, I bought this last summer and have never used it and the polka dot ribbon has been in my stash for nearly two years. Behind the topper I added some purple net that was recycled from a bag that held fruit - I love recycling these fruit nets and have been known on a couple of occasions to but fruit because of the colour of the net - I hasten to add that so far I haven't ever bought a fruit I don't actually eat just t get a  pretty colour net though and all the fruit I buy does get eaten by myself or hubby so does contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

I used the remainder of the text and music papers to line the inside of the card. I lost my mum a few years ago but colleagues at work often ask me to make a card fro them to give to their mum's so next time someone asks all I need do is add a suitable verse to the inside and they have their card.

I am entering this into the following challenges.
