About Me

Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom
I have been crafting since May 2008, when in desperation to find an unusual birthday card for my Mum, I gave up looking in the shops and decided to have a go at making my own. I soon realised that crafting is addictive and I haven't brought a card since. In 2011 I completed my certificate in papercrafting as a result of the work I did as part of the course I started entering challenges on line and in magazines. I applied for design teams and also started making samples for Ooh La La Creations for their shows on Create and Craft. I have now completed my Diploma in professional crafting and most recently been runner up in the Papercrafter of the Year 2013 a competition run by Papercraft essentials magazine, I don't have a particular style I like to use elements from lots of styles and techniques, although I do love all things vintage. In 2014 I started to move more towards scrapbooking to take care of the huge family archive of photographs that were stored in my attic. I have continued cardmaking and Scrapbooking through 2015 and 2016 but have also become interested in off the page projects. I hope to be able focus on these in the future.

Inspired by nature at Ooh La La

Good Morning, I hope you are enjoying the bank holiday. Well it's Monday and time for another challenge over at Ooh La La Creations. We had some fabulous entries last time for our 'Seeing Red' Challenge, as it was Wendy's challenge she gets to pick the winners and you can check out her choices on the challenge blog. After all the drama and vibrancy of red Pauline has chosen 'Inspired by Nature as this weeks theme.

Here is my card

I used the 'Yesterday's Memories' CD and decided to try something a little different. I viewed the CD in My Craft Studio and chose the sepia image of the Blue Tit but printed it at only 50% opacity. I then added colour using KArs peralised chalks to give a subtle effect to the image. The two backing papers are from teh same folder on the CD and I mounted a square of the first paper onto a square panel of Kraft card and trimmed to leave a narrow border and added faux stitching with a white gel pen. I mounted the second paper onto a strip of kraft card that I had punched using a Martha Stewart punch. I stuck this to the right of the square panel and wound a length of gold organza and satin ribbon around the whole thing before sticking it to a 6x6 card blank.

I then added the coloured image (which I has 'fixed' with cheap hairspray) at an angle. The wooden leaves were part of a prize I won in one of my previous challenges and I added the flowers which were  punched from the off cuts of the first paper and layered up and finished with a tiny tan coloured pearl in the centre. The single flower had two leaves added that were embossed using a Crafters Companion board out of scraps of kraft card. finally the computer generated sentiment was mounted onto kraft card and trimmed to leave a narrow border and a tan pearl added in the corner. To keep with the natural feel of the card I added three wooden buttons from my stash to the top right.

I lined the inside of the card with the same paper as used on the decorative strip on the front and added a panel of kraft card for the sentiment with a leafy flourish at one side to finish.

I am entering the card into teh following challenges
